Chocolate de Batirol

We’re supposed to have our breakfast here on our 4th day in Baguio unfortunately the place was still close at 9am?! We were disappointed so we just took a lot of pictures of the place. I learned that they have a branch somewhere in Tiendesitas? Guess we’ll just have to check their joint here one day.

Getting Around Baguio (Transportation)

Means going around the city can be via jeepney or taxi (car or FX). Personally, in this trip, we opted to roam around via taxi (they don’t use air-con but make do with the cool breeze). Taxi drivers in Baguio are more pleasant, friendly and courteous. They call you ma’m or sir and give “change” voluntarily…you don’t need to ask for it. Because of this good service, we give them tips. Via jeepney could be more practical but will also take you longer to your destination. Point of reference would be the Baguio Plaza where there are jeepney stations for every destination. We chose to hail cabs because we wanted to maximize our stay in Baguio and travel fast and comfortably.

SM Baguio

I didn’t want to go to SM originally (because we have several in Manila) but my companion said it has nice architecture and view decks. So on our fourth day, we walked upwards Session Road. Half way thru, we hailed a cab cause we got tired walking with all the bags of pasalubongs on both our hands. Finally we made it to SM!! We went straight to the third floor view deck and saw the breathtaking views of the city. It was amazingly wonderful!! Clouds kissing the mountains….

P M A

The premier military institution of the country can be found in Loakan Road. We also enjoyed watching the men in uniform do their military march. PMA has also excellent panoramic views. The old same tree house's still there, imagine...

Little John's, Mile Hi Center

Another great dining option in Mile-Hi Center is Little John's. We ordered their specialty, baby back ribs which was very flavorful...and fish & chips. While waiting for our food, we took pictures of the resto’s forest view. If you have kids, they have crayons and paper where they can exhibit their talents in drawing/coloring. Owner of this lovely place is Johnet Flavier, son of Former Health Sec., Juan Flavier. Paid P350 including tip.

Everything Nice, Mile Hi Center

We had breakfast in Everything Nice, Mile-Hi Center. We savored their Baguio longganisa, garlic fried rice and sunny side up. This special longganisa is highly recommended, it’s so delicious!! We also tried their country sausages and scrambled eggs. Before leaving, we ordered a box of their assorted pastries, too….yummm!! Everything at P548.

Monday

Mile Hi Inn

We checked out another lodging option inside Camp John Hay, THE MILE-HI INN which is a 5 minute walk from Manor Hotel. Like the Manor Hotel, it has special promo offer from June 16 to September 30. It offers 30% off on their regular and forest view rooms and includes FREE breakfast for two persons. Their rooms are clean, have cable TV, ceiling fan, hot shower, 24 hour standby power and ample parking space. Their forest view room (family room) that can accommodate 3-4pax, for example, at 30% off will now only be at P1540 (from its regular P2200/room/night). Their website: http://www.mile-hi.com.ph

It’s within the Mile-Hi Center cluster which features sports and souvenir shops, convenience store, and a variety of dining choices with breathtaking views: Dencio’s Bar and Grill, Everything Nice, Carlo’s Pizza, and Little John’s...

Burnham Park

We revisited Burnham Park first since it’s the nearest to our first hotel, Burnham Hotel. We went around the 66th Infantry Regiment Park, Athletic Bowl, Burnham Lake, the Orchidarium, the Rose Garden and the Igorot Park. I enjoyed the greens and trees in that area. We took a lot of pictures.

Near the Orchidarium, we saw the Burnham Suites. Across the Igorot Park, is the Hotel Veniz.

Good Taste

We had our brunch at the famous Good Taste in Baguio City’s Center Mall. Its simplicity reminds me of Luyong Restaurant in Marikina. They serve food generously. We tried their specialties namely: buttered chicken (half order), lechon kawali, molo soup (small), fried rice (for 3) and 500ml bottled water (1). When our orders were served in our table, we were overwhelmed by the quantity/size. What we ordered will feed a family of 6! Pictures will attest to this. We enjoyed their delicious food and bagged the leftovers which we ate for merienda and had it at dinnertime, too. Spent P480 for all these and P20 for tip.

Why I Love Manor...

The luscious expansive garden, the mesmerizing falls, view deck, Manor Hotel's facade with its exterior stone finish blending with the towering pine trees and vast landscape...are just few of my favorite things in Manor Hotel...
